Where’s Nancy Mace? As residents of South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, we are deeply troubled by Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s recent actions and her persistent avoidance of genuine public engagement. Her conduct not only undermines the principles of representative democracy but also raises serious questions about her commitment to the constituents she was elected to serve. This petition is therefore a call for Congresswoman Nancy Mace to host an authentic town hall meeting with appropriate advance notice for her constituents.
Engaging with constituents through town hall meetings is a fundamental principle of a constitutional republic. As residents of her district, we deserve to hear directly from Congresswoman Mace about her plans, legislative actions, and how she represents us on a national level. The ability to voice our concerns, share our experiences, and ask important questions should never be compromised.
We implore Congresswoman Nancy Mace to honor her civic duty by organizing a formal town hall meeting with ample notice for all constituents. Let us rekindle the flame of public involvement and enhance the democratic process in our district. Please sign this petition to champion open dialogue and better representation.
In April 2025, a video surfaced showing an exchange between Rep. Mace and a constituent, Ely Murray-Quick, at an Ulta Beauty store in Mount Pleasant. Murray-Quick approached Mace to inquire about her plans for holding a public town hall. Instead of providing a constructive response, Mace responded with hostility, using profanity and dismissing his concerns. She later posted the video on social media, labeling Murray-Quick as “unhinged” and using the incident to disparage him. Such behavior is unbecoming of an elected official and reflects a troubling disregard for respectful dialogue with constituents.
Further compounding the issue is Mace’s approach to constituent engagement. On April 8, she held a telephone town hall without prior notice or promotion, effectively limiting public participation. When questioned about the lack of in-person town halls, Mace cited safety concerns due to threats against her and her staff. While the safety of public officials is paramount, it should not be used as a blanket excuse to avoid direct interaction with constituents.
In response to mounting criticism, Mace organized a town hall on April 23 in Beaufort County. However, the event was held in Dataw Island, a private, gated community, restricting access to the general public. This choice of venue drew protests from constituents who felt excluded from the democratic process. Mace defended the decision by stating that it was the only community that extended an invitation, but this rationale does little to assuage concerns about transparency and accessibility.
Moreover, Mace’s recent rhetoric has been divisive and inflammatory. At a speech in Iowa, she used a derogatory slur against transgender individuals multiple times, aligning herself with policies that roll back civil rights protections for the LGBTQ+ community. Such language not only alienates a segment of her constituency but also contradicts the values of inclusivity and respect.
As constituents, we expect our elected representatives to engage with us openly, listen to our concerns, and represent our interests with integrity. Rep. Mace’s recent actions suggest a departure from these responsibilities. It is imperative that she commits to transparent and inclusive governance, ensuring that all voices in our district are heard and respected.
The health of our democracy depends on the active participation of both elected officials and constituents. We urge Congresswoman Mace to hold accessible public town halls, foster respectful dialogue, and prioritize the needs and concerns of all her constituents. Only through genuine engagement can trust be restored and effective representation achieved.
Yes. I’m going there.

I would run through a brick wall to prevent any more women in South Carolina from becoming victims of predators and rapists like Patrick Bryant.
My bills to protect women from voyeurism still haven’t had a vote. We have more work to do to protect women and girls.
Until then,…
